I pray this week was a blessing for those who traversed the path of rest with me. Since the DIY project is postponed to next Friday, I can't help but reflect on this week's study...
As we remembered from where we had first fallen, we heard and read on Monday about the Garden of Eden, this place of rest filling our hearts with joy, gladness, thanksgiving and the sound of melody.
A place of rest.
A place of worship.
A place beholding the presence of God.
We stood by as witnesses to the first sin mankind commitment in this garden of pure delight, but saw God pave a costly path of redemption. The curse of the ground that Adam stood on grew the very thorns that would pierce the head of Jesus.
We recalled, how even though Adam and Eve exchanged the presence of God to "taste and see [IF] the Lord is good," it was Moses who was willing to give it all up...the promised land of milk and honey...if he didn't have the presence of God. The very presence God promised would give rest. (Exodus 33:14)
In despair and sadness we saw God drive man out the Garden at the East gate, but we remembered with hope filled tears that a star was set in the East, leading the wise men to Jesus.
Jesus.
Emmanuel.
God with us.
As you spent time in your study guide, you closed with the promise that God's very purpose for His presence in our lives is to REVIVE us.
We are no longer simply bystanders to a garden of rest, wishing for scene told long ago. For it was Kelly who reminded us it is Jesus Himself who invites the most restless of hearts to come...for He is the only one who gives us rest.
